Cooling Equipments Cold Storages Special Cooling Applications

Food consumption has radically changed in the world after Jacob Perkins had patented the first refrigerator in 1834. Keeping food under healthy conditions for longer periods became possible. Food producers and suppliers need industrial cold storage to maintain the freshness and quality of food products after being produced and before reaching our fridges in our houses.

Besides their sizes, what distinguishes industrial cooling systems from refrigerators for domestic use is that different equipment and techniques are used for different characteristic of different food products. Each product needs different cooling requirements to maintain their freshness.

In the broadest terms, cooling is to reduce the temperature of food kept in a closed unit through mechanical equipment and high-capacity cooling liquids transferring heat. The basic principle of cooling has not radically changed since the first mechanical refrigeration cycle was invented in the early 1900s. Quality of cooling systems has improved thanks to continuous development of technology. The factors affecting the efficiency of cooling systems are as the following:

  • The quality of the equipment used for cooling
  • Correctly configured equipment based on the products to be cooled, climatic conditions and user expectations
  • Use of advanced technology solutions in cooling systems
  • Turning cooling system algorithm into smart systems and reduce energy consumption

VIETVINH’s Difference

Cold storages are hidden heroes of the food industry. Secret to delivering fresh and high-quality food products to consumers is in storing them in cold storage on the long duration between their production and consumption. Driven by this consciousness, VIETVINH takes all its steps toward storing food in the best possible way.

VIETVINH manufactures its equipment used in cold storage or coldroom facilities as commonly used in many places, within its in-house facilities under the brandname of VIETVINH. Through its R&D focused engineering, the company uses the state-of-the-art technology and the most appropriate materials. It does not only use technology, but also develops new technologies.

Thanks to its smart algorithm, VIETVINH manufactures controllers providing energy savings up to 71%, along with fully automated controlling systems on cold storage through remote monitoring and management systems. VIETVINH’s all cooling systems are in the energy efficiency class A+++, and have an eco-friendly nature as they can operate with solar power, organic gases and wind energy.

Thanks to its tailor-made approach, VIETVINH designs, manufactures and installs the most accurate and efficient cold stores, custom made for its customers, and offers after sales services and product warranties. It also conducts researches on storing and processing food correctly; makes books and documentaries to lead the way for global agriculture, and conducts educational activities for raising awareness in industrial cooling systems.

Cold storage types depending on their purpose of use

Cold stores are large rooms, which are designed for the storage of food where climatic values, such as temperature and humidity are taken under control. VIETVINH cold storage systems are classified in 6 main categories based on the products which are to be stored and purposes of use:

  • Cool room (+5 °C to +15 °C)
  • Cold room (-5 °C to +5 °C)
  • Freezer room (-30 °C to -15 °C)
  • Shock freezing room (-60 °C to -30 °C); type of freezer storage rapidly bringing down the temperature of foodstuffs
  • Two stage storage (-18 °C to +5 °C); allows for both freezing and cold storage
  • Heat and cold storage (0 °C to +20°C); allows for both cool and cold storage

All these storage alternatives provides solutions for all cooling needs between the temperatures of -60 °C and +20°C.

Cold storage types based on their coolants

Main refrigerants used in cooling systems are Freon, Ammonia, Carbondioxide, Glycol and Propane. VIETVINH can produce all cooling solutions as single or double stage (Cascade system) by using one or two of these coolants depending on the refrigeration process. Choice of coolants is made based on the characteristics of the product which is to be stored, size of the facility and user expectations.

Carbondioxide, Ammonia, Glycol , Propane

Since Ammonia, Carbondioxide, Glycol and Propane are naturally occurring substances, they are called natural liquids. Cold storage types using natural liquids are used in relatively larger facilities with large tonnage, as they have low operating costs. Cold storages using carbondioxide, ammonia and glycol are becoming more widely used because of their environment-friendly nature.

Freon

Freon is a liquid specially produced by the combination of a few elements with cooling properties. Cold stores using Freon are often preferred since their investment costs are low, and used in cold stores of relatively smaller tonnage. Besides this, because they are suitable for all sectors, they have an extensive range of use.
